Third-party funding
The DESY theory group is a leading centre for Theoretical Physics in Europe. It organizes various scientific events, employs and educates a considerable number of postdocs and hosts several guests. In this way it contributes significantly to the shaping of the scientific landscape in Europe. The DESY theory group coordinates the EU-funded Marie Curie Initial Training Networks (ITN) GATIS that is devoted to the study of ``Gauge Theory as an Integrable System''. There are several grants held by group members:- an Emmy Noether young investigator group working on "Exact results in gauge theories"
- an ERC Starting Grant for the investigation of dark matter
- an ERC Consolidator Grant for the investigation of inflation in string theory
Partner institutes
The theory group has two partner institutions, the theory group of DESY Zeuthen and the John von Neuman institute.
The group is strongly linked both on a local and an international scale to several universities and other research institutions, including
- The Wolfgang Pauli Centre, which unites the various theory groups of Hamburg University and DESY in Hamburg
- Participation in the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe (EXC2121) granted by the German Research Foundation (DFG) and close cooperation with the II Institute for theoretical physics of Hamburg university.
- Strong links with the experimental groups at DESY , with the Institute for experimental physics of Hamburg university and with the Analysis Centre of the Helmholtz Alliance "Physics at the Terascale" .
- Participation in Hamburg's Center for Mathematical Physics.
